Health Visitors, who can also check your child's hearing.
Family
Planning / HRT / Smear Clinic
A
full range of family planning services including hormone replacement therapy
and preconception advice is offered by our practice.
We advise all women between the ages of 25 and 49 to have a cervical smear every 3 years, and those between 50 and 64 to have one every 5 years. A Practice Nurse can do this. Well

Our
Practice Nurses see pateints during their clinic times to check their
blood pressure and urine and to discuss their health.
Minor
Operations
Dr
Azmy Birdi removes minor skin conditions such as warts, moles and sebaceous
cysts. Ask your Doctor of you would like to be referred.
Diabetic
Clinic
Patients
are sent by appointment.
We like to see all our Diabetic patients at least twice a year, once if you attend Hospital. Our
Dietitian is available to see all our Diabetic patients on a regular basis.
Prior
to having a family we would advise you and your partner to have a lifestyle
check. We can give advice on diet and for women to be checked for immunity
to German Measles. We also try to help a couple if they are unable to
conceive.
Ante-natal
care is provided by the doctors on an individual basis so as to maximise
continuity of care, however the Midwife also runs a Clinic every Thursday
morning.
The midwife and health visitors run a six week course (at St. Marks Hospital in Maidenhead) on preparation for childbirth and also provide post natal care. The
health visitors also run parenting courses for parents of the 0 to 6 years
age group. This is part of a rolling programme with the other health visitors
in Maidenhead. The course aims to help parents learn skills they could
use to help their children grow into responsible adults and develop their
full potential. Contact the health visitors for more information.
Ultrasound
Screening
We
have an ultrasound scanner in the Medical Centre and two of our Doctors
have the necessary training to undertake certain scans on the premises.
If your Doctor feels you need a scan, he/she will refer you. However,
many scans still need to be done in a Hospital.
Quit
Smoking
Dr
Southgate will try to help people give up smoking. If you are interested
please ask at Reception.
Counselling
If
specialised counselling is needed we have the services of a Psychologist
and a counsellor. Appointments are arranged through your doctor.
Home
Nursing
Patients
who are confined to their homes and need assistance may arrange with their
doctor for a district nurse to call. The hospital will normally arrange
for the nurse to call on patients discharged from hospital but who still
need nursing at home.
